Allyship to Accelerate Action IWD2025
Today, on International Women’s Day, I take a moment to reflect on my journey. I realize that every thoughtful step I take matters. I am committed to growing as an ally and helping shape a more inclusive workplace and support this year’s theme #accelerateaction.
Did you know? According to the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE):
• The gender pay gap in the EU averaged about 13–14% in recent years
• Women hold roughly 28% of board seats in major companies
• In managerial roles across the private sector, women occupy around 37% of positions
We are showing progress, but we must accelerate our actions. According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, at our current pace, it will take 137 years to reach gender parity.
Here are some best practices that can make a positive impact in our journey for gender equity:
➡️ 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬: Form monthly small groups where colleagues share challenges and work on practical solutions together
➡️ 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬: Pair senior leaders with emerging talent. This two-way learning builds empathy and sparks change
➡️ 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐬: Host quarterly workshops with role-play and real scenarios. These sessions create a safe space for everyone to tackle bias and share ideas
➡️ 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧: Organize regular forums where women can share challenges, seek guidance, and build support networks without judgment
➡️ 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐬: Create informal gatherings for sharing personal experiences. Highlight the impact of safe spaces and the role of allies to inspire further action
➡️ 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Set up an impact dashboard to track diversity metrics and survey feedback. Use the data to refine our actions and ensure our efforts create measurable change
I am not perfect. I am learning every day. I surround myself with amazing women role models who give me honest feedback and help me grow as an ally and as a respectful, supportive human being.
